Towards the end of the 12th century, the town church was built as the seat of an archpriest of the diocese of Meissen. It was rebuilt several times, but its core has remained Romanesque to this day.

The church was probably built in the 13th century. The tower was rebuilt from 1810-1814, and 1816-1817 the hall. It is the Protestant town church Bad Düben.
