In 1802, Germany's first brine spa was opened here. The graduation house was built between 1756 and 1765. It has a total length of 1,837 meters. This makes it the largest graduation tower ever built.

The graduation house was built by the Prussian state between 1756-1777 to increase the salt concentration of the brine, it was once 1837 m long. Its economic importance lost its technical structure in 1890, when it was overrun after completion of the salt mine for spraying in underground mining. After that, it served exclusively for outdoor inhalation.
