    Hiking

The Niederfinow ship lift, commissioned on March 21, 1934, is the oldest operating ship lift in Germany. Located in Niederfinow (Barnim district), the lift overcomes a height difference of 36 meters between the summit level (Lehnitz lock to the lift) and the Oder level (lift to Hohensaaten locks) of the Havel-Oder Waterway at kilometer 77.89.

The ship lift is a protected industrial monument. In December 2007, it received the award "Historical Landmark of Civil Engineering in Germany," presented for the first time by the Federal Chamber of Engineers.

You can drive from a canoe rental in Oderberg by boat through the boat lift and then picked up about 7 km further. Exciting! And not difficult! One should not capsize if possible. Attention: canoes tilt easily! With steamboats it works too.
