Kuehlungsborn (officially the town of Ostseebad Kuehlungsborn; from 1937 to 1938 Ostseebad Brunshaupten-Arendsee) is an independent town in the district of Rostock in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The community was created in 1937 from the union of the Baltic Sea resorts of Brunshaupten (with Fulgen) and Arendsee. A year later it was given its current name and city rights. The city has been a state-approved seaside resort since February 15, 1996
