The new civil aviation guidance radar was inaugurated on September 8 at Palaiseau, in the Ecole Polytechnique district of the Paris-Saclay campus.

Two and a half years of work. This is the time that will have been necessary before the new radar of the civil aviation of Palaiseau is not inaugurated on September 8. This air traffic control equipment is intended to identify and guide civilian aircraft in the Paris region. It contributes to the coverage of the North, East, South-West and West, Orly, Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle, Le Bourget, and all satellite approaches.

Developed under the delegated contracting authority of the Paris-Saclay Public Planning Establishment on behalf of the Air Navigation Services Department, the architectural project for this radar was entrusted to the Barthélémy-Griño architectes agency.

This radar has a range of 170 nautical miles (315 kilometers), it has a rotation speed of 4 seconds and will allow processing of 800 aircraft simultaneously. Compared to its predecessor, which is located about a kilometer away, it benefits from signal processing that relies heavily on IT and will keep the system up to date. Sheltered under a radome and at the top of a 66-meter tower, its construction will have cost 8 million €.
