One of the most important ferry routes in southern Norway connects Kristiansand with Hirtshals in Denmark. The Color Line shipping company has been using the SuperSpeed 1 ferry on this route since 2008 with two daily trips in each direction, which replaces the Christian IV and the high-speed ferry Silvia Ana.
The shipping company Fjord Line also runs between Hirtshals and Kristiansand, but only in the summer months (April to September), then also with two daily trips in each direction. The Fjord Cat catamaran ferry is the fastest ferry connection to Norway at just 2 hours and 15 minutes.
