On the grounds of the former Ickern I/II colliery, the Greek community of Castrop-Rauxel has created the Agora cultural center and an entire amphitheater. And with it, a unique place for cultural encounters and exchange.
For the people who used to come to Germany as "guest workers", this was a way to maintain their cultural identity, but also to pass it on to others. Guests became fellow citizens, and care and coexistence became exchange and togetherness. This has happened many times over in the Ruhr area.
