Falkenstein, the rock nest

South of Schramberg in the Black Forest, in the direction of Tennenbronn, lies the Falkenstein castle ruins, hidden in the middle of an impassable forest area, divided into the lower and upper Falkenstein. The two ruins stick to the craggy rock like two nests.

If you want to visit the Falkenstein, you should be able to walk well: the hiking trails to the castle, which is around 530 meters in the Black Forest, are partly steep. An ascent is worth it: The castle complex, which was renovated around 1900 on behalf of Arthur Junghans, gives an idea of what it was like here in the 12th / 13th centuries. Century may have looked. The ruins are cherished and looked after by the Falkenstein Citizens' Association.
