The Kloppberg lies at 293.4 m above sea level. On some days, you can actually see the Frankfurt skyline, including the MesseTurm, but almost always the southern Bergstrasse.Restaurants on the Kloppberg: the Weinkastell (upscale) and the Turmlokal (rustic) (stoeckbauers-weinkastell.de/).A special feature of the geology of the Kloppberg are the bog iron ore deposits. Dinotheria sands and bog iron clays are found on this plateau, lying on limestone. From around 1820 to 1870, significant quantities of iron ore were open-cast here, washed in ore washes, and transported for further processing to the smelting works in Eisenberg, Hochstein, and Trippstadt.
