The tranquil Karwendel village of Wallgau is located in the Isar valley and is known for its "Lüftlmalerei". The most famous inhabitant of Wallgau is certainly the former biathlete Magdalena Neuner, who has lived here since she was a child. If you take a break at the Gasthof zur Post, you will do the same as previous celebrity guests - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Heinrich Heine, Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor have already stopped by. A nice place to stay.

Mountain biking

Wallgau is the perfect starting point to compete in medium difficulty hiking or MTB tours. Nearby are Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Mittenwald or the Walchensee. Which ideal connection points for most tours are. In and around Wallgau there are almost inexhaustible possibilities to compete in all kinds of tours. My personal highlights are the drive into the Eng, around the Walchensee or direction Leutasch.
