The Auerhahnhütte in the district Offdilln is one of two currently still existing hunting lodges which were built by Duke Adolf Wilhelm Carl August Friedrich of Nassau-Weilburg in 1856. These huts were connected by the so-called Herzogweg. Even today, this unpaved road is partially integrated into various hiking trails (Bergmannspfad, Rothaarsteigweg, etc.).
The Duke left us only two huts, the capercaillie stocks were completely destroyed by him.
In contrast to the Roßbacher Auerhahnhütte this is not a drive-in, but nice and quiet.
Directly adjacent is a beautiful shady forest playground.
