Erlau, 12 km below Passau and 6 km above Obernzell, with its 546 inhabitants is the smallest part of the market town of Obernzell, to which Erlau has belonged since the regional reform in 1972. The old story of Erlaus takes place between castles and farms. Krempelstein Castle still towers over the town today. Even if it belongs to Austria, it has remained a landmark of Eger due to its dominant location.
