It is located in the settlement of Alt Lostau near the Elbe and was built between 1150 and 1200 from quartzite quarry stones of the Pretzien quarries as a fortified church. It is a three-part staggered late Romanesque building with a broad west tower, nave and choir. The tower is perpendicular to the ship of the same width. The easterly choir was built on a square plan. The choir windows on the north and east sides are the only window openings of the building still preserved in their Romanesque design. The original main entrance to the church was on the south side. Presumably in the 18th century, a simple half-timbered construction was created here.
