Hiking Highlight (Segment)
In the Carinthian Gail Valley, 2.5 kilometers south of Hermagor, near Möderndorf, the Garnitzenbach has dug a 4-kilometer-long gorge in the rocks of the Carnic Alps - the Garnitzenklamm. The Garnitzenklamm owes its origin on the one hand to a geological fault zone in the mountains, which offered the outflowing water less resistance than the surrounding rock formations, on the other hand, after the last ice age melting glaciers, the huge streams, mixed with much rock material sent to the valley. The Garnitzenklamm is about 10,000 years old.

My most impressive holiday experience so far: crystal clear water, round and rugged rocks, flat spots on the water again and again, even small "pools" that invite you to swim. I dared. Also great for children to splash around. Very good backups in tighter places.
