In 1939, Telefunken GmbH Berlin set up the antenna test station Brück south of Berlin / Potsdam on the edge of the Fläming on an area of around 30 hectares for their device development for radio measurement technology and antenna development.
After the dismantling of the technology in 1945 and various uses of the site and the buildings, including to accommodate war refugees, Deutsche Post took over the site in 1956 and began setting up an antenna measuring station for the Central Radio and Telecommunications Office (RFZ).
Because of the soil conditions and the high groundwater level, the location was ideally suited for radio measurements.(Source: dgpt.org)translated by
