Small open-air museum about the life of the Vikings.

Bork Viking Harbor was built in 2000 and is part of Ringkøbing-Skjern Museum. It is a reconstructed Viking environment with a number of buildings such as a longhouse, pit houses, stables, mill, church and craft houses, as well as a harbor with ships.During the holidays you can experience live how the Vikings move into the houses and pursue the crafts of the Viking Age and other historical activities.Bork Viking Harbor shows how the Vikings lived on the harsh west coast 1000 years ago. The village and harbor were built using various finds from West Jutland from the Viking Age, and in particular the archaeological excavations in the area around Tarm have influenced the architectural style of Bork Viking Harbour. The entire village has a West Jutland touch - this also applies to the new buildings that are being built. The Viking chief's longhouse is an exact replica of a house excavated in Tarm in 1995. The Viking house and stable is a reconstruction of a house that was excavated in Tarm. The wooden church is based on a wooden church found under a stone church in Vorgod, north of Skjern. The harbor was inspired by finds made in Nybro, 25 km south-east of Bork Viking Harbour.levendehistorie.dk/uber-den-bork-vikinghafen
