The year 1815 is clearly legible above the entrance to the town hall. That is not the case. It was probably not completed until 1817. In any case, in the spring of 1816 the project was still in the planning stage. The city leaders drastically described the condition of their dilapidated town hall with the aim of obtaining state approval for the new building as quickly as possible. There was talk of collapsing parts of the building and a collapsing roof. As an extravagance, the only wish was a turret for the bell of the town hall clock from 1639. As a town, Münder had low jurisdiction. The pillory as an external sign of this stood approximately where the Söltjer fountain is currently located.
