So, now it worked with the Deister and it will definitely not be the last time. A mountain range with great forest, deforestation was at least limited on our route. I took over the route from Abins with small changes! Thank you, have a nice round for a first meeting. Overall, however, a MTB is recommended for the route, because the first planner had built in a few chicanes - surprise! Some straight gravel roads were not so nice. In any case, there are many route alternatives in the Deister and there are also plenty of restaurants and bars for a break, and they were open !!! The water wheels were of course a highlight for us! It's great what the club has built over the years. It's not just children's hearts that beat faster! Unfortunately, today's tour suffered a bit from time pressure.
      Remaining distance see part 2.

Had read about it in the LZ the day before and today we went to Exter by car via Hohenhausen due to an appointment. A stopover had to be made for a few photos. This color frenzy is simply crazy.
In the newspaper there is talk of parking at the sports field, Heinrich-Johanning-Weg, on the corner of Herfordstrasse. Maybe there is another field that we haven't seen. There is also talk of a "poppy seed trail". We didn't see any of that. The field I photographed is also a whole corner further on the arterial road. You have to walk a long way from the sports field! If there is not much going on, you can also park directly on the field or, like us, in the industrial area opposite.

Actually today only the driving service was announced for the wife and the waiting time was used for a short walk, nothing special for a Komoot publication. But by chance I ended up in the small NSG Sandgrube Exter. On winding paths that sometimes end in nowhere, you go through a beautiful, wild and romantic forest. According to my impression, some roads ended on some private property. I prefer to turn back then. Everything a bit confusing, but nice. So here are a few photos for inspiration!
The real highlight came on the way back to Extertal on the outskirts of Hohenhausen:

Have made this highly recommended tour public again because I accidentally deleted the original.
If you want to ride the route in both directions, I would recommend staying on the Weserradweg on the west bank. On the other hand, the bike path runs along the road more often. The condition of the path is also not always so good.

The Ohrbergpark is now well known here. There is no getting around it in spring. At the moment almost only the yellow azaleas bloom with their beguiling scent. You have to experience that yourself and of course the blooming handkerchief tree! There are also a few other colors in bloom, but most of them are still to come. Then it's over with the yellow ones. We will definitely be here again in the next few weeks. More information about the park in the highlight.
Of course, after the winter break, the dwarf census could not be missing. There has been growth again. After a cursory inventory, there should be four newcomers.
The camera stayed at home today because I can no longer count my photos in the park. Fortunately, I had my cell phone with me. Without a photo you just can't do it here!

Our fear that the "path of the eyes", actually a hiking trail, could turn into a suicide mission for us trekking bikers on this special day, was not confirmed. A bit exhausting, but we managed the "Nordschleife" and got to know lots of great new paths, often just narrow paths. Overall, however, the tour is more suitable for MTB or just on foot or for old men with a trekking bike who do not have a complete range of bikes to choose from and still like to ride on any terrain. Occasionally pushing was also announced, but only short distances. At km 36.9 there is a staircase - pushing aid !!!. Our entry into the 146 km long circular route was shortly after Hummerbruch at km 3.7. We ended today near Sternberg Castle - km 57. Today's section led through the communities in the north of the Lippe region of Extertal, Barntrup and Dörentrup and is definitely recommended because of its varied landscape. At some point we will move on to the next stage!

Used cheap carpooling to Hameln and started the way back from there. Fresh air felt good and the weather played along too. Great the spring green in the forest! Nothing new today in terms of the route.

Thanks to "Thomashm" for the great tour suggestion. It was really worth it! 👍👍👍😍
You don't have to say anything more about the Weserradweg. Always great, especially with such dream weather and during the week when there is not so much going on. Before Bodenwerder we turned to go around the Vogler. After a short distance you leave the road bike path and now drive on the "Lenne-Freizeitweg". It follows an old railway line, sometimes next to the rails, sometimes in between, and if you're not careful, you can quickly lie on it. Almost went wrong once! The path is not paved, but it is easy to drive. He continues to Lenne, but we said goodbye at Eschershausen and headed towards Golmbach - "Rühler Schweiz". Also in the further course often gravel roads, acceptable if you prefer to drive away from roads.
Then as the highlight of the day the cherry blossom, for us the most impressive behind the cherry village of Golmbach. That's why we drove the additional loop off the road, partly with steep climbs, but great views. However, we had imagined the cherry blossom to be a bit more impressive. Depending on the variety and location, a number of trees had already bloomed a bit, others were still in bud. A visit in the next few days is definitely worth it. Have we asked if the delicious fruits are all picked? The descent in the direction of Rühle is simply awesome, with a lot of flavor through the numerous curves and another cherry tree and another - and ... - but better keep an eye on the road at this speed! Occasionally an encouraging look at the sweaty faces of the biobikers who are torturing themselves up the long ramp in the opposite direction. 😉
Then just roll out on the Weser Cycle Path with a stop in the almost deserted Münchhausenstadt. Luckily the ice cream parlor was open! 🍦☕ A great day!
