The Dorlar lock is the uppermost of all Lahn locks at Lahn-km 4.5 between Gießen and Wetzlar. The km 0 referred to the border between the Grand Duchy of Hesse-Darmstadt, to which Gießen belonged as the upper terminus of the Lahn shipping, and the Prussian Wetzlar.
