The Sterenbachsee is also called Sterenbachweiher and is located near Wittlich in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Bernkastel-Wittlich.
The water is an artificially created reservoir, which regulates by its approx. 4 ha large retention basin, but also by lowering the brook bed, the enormous amounts of water of the Sterenbachs and thus protects the place flowed by the brook Lüxem from flooding. The water overflow of the lake is derived by pipes under the highway in the Lieser. The city administration Wittlich, which is responsible for the Sterenbachsee, takes care of the regular care and administration.
