Hiking Highlight (Segment)
Location: Heiterwang, Tiroler Zugspitz Arena, Reutte, Tyrol, Austria
This panorama path lives up to its name in every respect. If possible, you should go twice, namely once in the morning and once in the afternoon, then you have the sun once from the front and once from the back. So two different panoramas.

The Heiterwanger See together with the Plansee forms the second largest body of water in Tyrol. The Heiterwanger See is located directly at the gateway to the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena - in the municipality of the same name, Heiterwang. The Plansee is connected to the Heiterwanger See by a 300 meter long canal and belongs to the municipality of Reutte.
The boat tours are particularly popular – great dinner cruises also take place here. The Heiterwanger See is also extremely attractive because it is so diverse and many activities can be carried out around the lake.

The Heiterwangersee is, so to speak, the twin lake of the Plansee. The Plansee belongs to the community of Reutte, the Heiterwangersee to the community of Heiterwang, but they still form a unit, because they are connected by a narrow, 300 meter long water channel and together they reach the second largest lake area in Tyrol.
The water quality is excellent, the temperatures are just right for a refreshing swim on hot summer days and there are fantastically beautiful bathing bays on the banks. The many opportunities for leisure activities also make the two lakes so popular. From beach volleyball to mini golf, everything can be found in the immediate vicinity. You can rent rowing and electric boats, or let a stimulating sea breeze blow your nose on a ship. The MS Margarethe and the MS Wilhelm sail from mid-May to mid-October across the Heiterwanger See and the Plansee. Four entry and exit points are available, so a boat trip can be wonderfully combined with beautiful hikes near the shore. There is also a Nordic walking route right by the lake and is ideal for ambitious training sessions.
The Heiterwangersee and the Plansee also attract many divers. They appreciate the diverse underwater flora and fauna as well as the good visibility. Diving is only allowed at marked places and only with the purchase of a day ticket. However, the Heiterwangersee is freely accessible to bathers.

The lake is worth seeing in the autumn, because the light is special. In addition, relatively little is going on.

Lake Heiterwang is at 1,000 m and is 75 m at its deepest point. It is connected to Lake Plansee by a 300-metre-long canal.
A beautiful circular path leads around the lake, which offers fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. The canal can be crossed over a small wooden bridge.

Grödel or spikes are highly recommended in winter. The trail is often very slippery as some hikers go there. Then when it goes downhill, it becomes difficult.

Fantastic and idyllic lake, the turquoise color just looks indescribable - especially in contrast to the Plansee, which is much darker blue.
