Source of the Danube (Breg Spring)

I'm so happy that I could visit this place and see where this beautiful river starts its journey. We've eaten there at " Höhengasthaus Kolmenhof" fresh trout from their own fishery with a delicious salad. The staff was really friendly and answered all our questions. The place also has rooms for tourists- I really recommend it and I'm planning to spend my next holiday there.

“Brigach and Breg bring the Danube to the river,” is a well-known saying from the region. Here you can find the geographical origin of the second longest river in Europe. The Breg source is the most distant source of the Danube, therefore it is not labeled with "Breg source" but with "Danube source".

The "actual" source of the Danube, since the Brigach and Breg "bring the Danube along" through their confluence in Donaueschingen. A place to linger with places to stop.
