The entrance to the Abisso Chimera opens a few tens of meters from CAI 177.
Already approaching the entrance to the cave you will notice a strong flow of cold air coming from inside.
The entire Carcaraia valley is characterized by multiple karst formations, both superficial and underground, there are many caves and among these many reach depths of over 1000m.
The Chimera abyss, whose bottom is at - 1028 meters, was initially discovered in 1988, but only after the explorations that have taken place over time have all its depth and complexity been revealed.
The last piece of these incredible explorations was added on 12 July 2020 when the Chimera was joined with the karst complex formed by the abysses of Aria Ghiaccia, Gigi Squisio, Saragato and Mani Pulite for a total of 63 km of development.
