A beautiful natural monument. The Birnbach rises here at a height of 1291m. A lake in the Birnhorn massif is suspected. When the weather is nice, you are not alone here.

The path to the natural monument Birnbachloch is a well-maintained, partially executed as an alpine climb and secured access that leads up through the Ullachgraben in Leogang on the south side of the Birnhorn to Quellhöhle. Within a walking time of one to one and a half hours depending on the pace, the Birnbachloch is a popular destination.

There are sufficient parking spaces available at the starting and ending points of the hike.

On the homepage of the municipality Leogang you can find the following description:

"The Birnbachloch is located a few hundred meters east of the Birnbach glacier at 1,291 m above sea level, it is a karst spring in a magnificent environment characterized by limestone-covered limestone cliffs, and the visual impression of the Birnbachloch is determined by a 20-meter wide" spacious "entrance hall. in the background the Birnbach springs and then descends the mountain in graceful cascades. The bed fluctuates between 5 liters in late autumn and winter and 300 liters in snowmelt and heavy rain. In late autumn and winter you can descend several meters into the spring cave. In the spacious chamber, a siphon, mirrored on the side exit, closes the cave ... There may well be a lake and a larger cave system inside, which may even have some connection to the great Lamprechtsofenloch Cave. On the initiative of Anton and Hermann Mayrhofer, the Birnbachloch was declared a natural monument in 1988 because of its scientific significance, peculiarity and beauty. "(Quelle SalzburgWiki)
