Dr. Reiche had lived in Peru since 1932, when she came there from Dresden to work as a nanny. Her home was on a viewing peak, and it was here that she wrote and stored the archaeological artifacts she collected throughout her career. After Reiche's death in 1998, her home, with all of its rare and unusual items, was converted into a museum.

Maria Reiche (born May 15, 1903 in Dresden, † June 8, 1998 in Lima, Peru) was a German mathematician. It became known through the systematic study of the Nazca Lines and has discovered and measured about 50 figures and 1000 lines in the Pampa (plains) of Nazca. Here is her house as a museum and the tomb. She was financially supported by her sister.
