It dates back to a medieval monastery church.
In 1268, Margrave Heinrich der Erlauchte donated his country estate to a Poor Clares convent.
The monastery was dissolved in 1542.
In 1724, the well-known Dresden council master builder George Bähr was commissioned by the then owner to build the castle.
The construction of the baroque castle church also took place under the direction of George Bähr on the existing Gothic foundations of the monastery church from 1268.
