Geological organs are vertical cavities formed by the weathering of soft, fine-grained material. This happened during the Günz glaciation around 600,000 years ago. An information board tells you more about the natural phenomenon.

Great rock formations from Nagelfluh, which migrated to Grönenbach during the last ice age. Basically the same as the boulders in the devil's kitchen between Obergünzburg and Ronsberg, just not quite as well known. The geological organs are still worth seeing, especially because there are hardly any people around.

A mighty rock from Nagelfluh, the people of the Allgäu sometimes refer to it as Lord's Concrete, houses the geological organs. The name alone gives an idea of what to expect here: rock formations reminiscent of organs. It is exactly like that. The age of the formations should be interesting - the ravages of time have been gnawing at the rock for more than half a million years. Intruding water therefore had plenty of time to soften and loosen the hard rock and to flush out tubes up to 15 m high that stand side by side like organ pipes.
