    November 13, 2018

    A footpath heads alongside this rugged and beautiful stretch of water. It’s a challenging (albeit fun) scramble along this path, made easier in drier conditions. After lots of rain, water flows down both sides of the fall making it slippery and awkward, so watch your step – and enjoy!

      This is a beautiful spot to visit. Be aware, however, that unless you're a competent climber you cannot make this a loop as you'll have to climb the waterfall, which I might add is brilliant fun.

        Might be a little intimidating for those not used to scrambling but if you take your time and go up the easier left side it's well worth it.

          Walking up gordale scar you are met with some impressive cliffs and crags and a beautiful waterfall

            The waterfall is really not that hard! My daughter did it when she was 8 and she's scared of heights! That said, avoid after heavy rain.

              Climbing the waterfall is part and parcel of completing the Malham Classic, otherwise you have to retrace your steps and ascent the steep fell onto New Close Knotts. I have taken a fair few people up the waterfall who have been apprehensive at first. But there is a way to climb the waterfall which is very simple with good foot and hand holds. You just have to think about it first.

                Well worth a visit, and recommended that you add to your route to ascend/descend through the waterfall. It's a minor scramble when dry and a little more difficult when wet.

                  You can easily walk up to the waterfall and if your brave continue the walk.

                    The waterfall is unclimbable in safety without proper climbing equipment. Visit the falls by all means but turn around unless you want to take your life in your hands.
