In the year 2000, the Trier Civic Association 1864 GmbH and the Günther Reh Foundation jointly acquired the property and had the surviving buildings completely renovated by 2004. Then they opened the former monastery to the public. The buildings are now home to several catering facilities, a monastery brewery with adjoining brewery, a wine cellar and a distillery. In addition, a building is used as a museum, in which on the one hand historical doll and tin toys mainly from the period 1850 to 1925 is exhibited, and on the other hand around 200 icons from Russia, Romania and Ethiopia are shown. There are also changing special exhibitions

The former monastery Machern is now privately owned. It houses, among other things, a monastery brewery and a brewery museum. Tasty gastronomy including ice cream parlor is of course also available. In the former crypt you can find delicious spirits, mustards, jams, vinegars and oils .....

The monastery offers a bistro coffee with cake, ice cream and small snacks. Also
There is a restaurant with a garden terrace for a bit more hunger.
On the side of the main building, a small staircase leads into a vaulted cellar and there are schnapps, liqueurs and various types of vinegar to try and buy. Very tasty, but not necessarily a bargain ...
But quality has its price!
