Svanninge Church is located at the foot of the Svanninge Hills. The characteristic profile of the church has been evident in the landscape north of Faaborg since 1838. The history of the church goes back further, however, and its yellow-washed walls contain remains of the former church from the Middle Ages.

Svanninge Kerk

For a change, a yellow-washed church. The church itself is much older, but it has had its current appearance since 1838, when the local landowner Count Preben Bille Brahe had it renovated. According to tradition, the church has this Alpine-looking tower and jagged gables because the count was inspired by them on trips to Austria and because the Svanninge Bakker was already known as part of the "Funian Alps" at that time, the community naturally wanted an "Alpine church".
