Xanten [ksantən] is a mid-district town of the district Wesel and is located on the lower Lower Rhine in northwest North Rhine-Westphalia.
The Roman, cathedral and Siegfried city can look back on more than 2000 years of history. Its origins lie in the establishment of the veteran camp Vetera and the Colonia Ulpia Traiana in the Roman Empire and continues with the founding of the convent of St. Victor in the 8th century. After the opening of the Archaeological Park and the Leisure Center Xanten in 1988 became the first state-recognized resort in the district of Dusseldorf and from 2014 to the health resort.
