A "moose warning sign" was set up on July 3, 2020 near Dobbrikow. It is intended to warn road users of a possible encounter with the largest species of mammal in Europe and ultimately also to protect the animals.

The sign should already be in place in March, but the date had to be postponed due to the corona pandemic. Dietlind Biesterfeld, the district councilor responsible for animal and nature conservation, is all the more pleased that the campaign has now been rescheduled.

    A moose named "Bert"
Moose are among the rare mammals in Brandenburg. Now and then you immigrate to Brandenburg from Poland. Such a hike has been observed by the University for Sustainable Development in Eberswalde since February 27, 2018, using GPS-GSM telemetry.

The wild animal was detected for the first time on February 5, 2018 on the Teupitz Wild Bridge (A13) with a video surveillance system in Brandenburg. The male elk was provided with a transmitter in the municipality of Mühlenfließ in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district as part of a management measure. At that time he weighed approx. 350 kg, was probably born in 2016 and was named "Bert" by the elk watchers.
