The explanatory board reads:
The Oberjägermarter, also known as White Marter, was inaugurated in honor of the prince-bishop's chief hunter Heinrich Karl von Schaumburg on 1 May 1770. Built by his son in honor of his father. Here was the meeting place of the prince-bishop hunters. The worshipers on the torture are to represent Emperor Heinrich and Empress Kunigunde.
Bamberg master baker Seel has made a worthy contribution to the preservation of the torture.
