    Piz Sardona / Surenstock 3056 m

The Piz Sardona forms a wide crest supported on all sides by Verrucano walls. The highest point is on the north-east edge of the knoll, above the north-east face which falls steeply to the Chline Glacier. He wears a cross with a summit book. The once glaciated summit plateau has largely cleared of snow and is now an expansive scree that sinks down to the Glarner side. About 700 meters south of the summit is the culmination of another scree peak (3011 m).

The Piz Sardona is often climbed, often together with the Piz Segnas. The ascents from the east (Sardonahütte, Flims) are considerably shorter than those from the west (Elm). The former normal route from the Sardonahütte via the Surenjoch was abandoned in favor of the route via the Mittelgrat; from Flims, access via the Surenjoch is still primarily used.

The name Surenstock is derived from the Rhaeto-Romanic munt sura, the upper mountain. Sardona (the upper part of the Calfeisen) comes from surdona or surdauna. The Old Romansh surd or suord means source and is related to the Latin surgere, (to swell).
