Filial Church Presseggen

The branch church Presseggen in the municipality of Hermagor was consecrated to St. Rupert of Salzburg in 1485. It belongs to the Roman Catholic parish of Förolach.
The late Gothic church consists of a two-bay nave and a one-bay choir with a three-eighth end. The wooden roof turret is crowned by a hexagonal helmet. The two-part lancet windows on the south side still have the original tracery. A large, renewed pillar porch protects the pointed arched, profiled west portal.In the nave, a star rib vault rests on polygonal wall pillars. A slightly drawn-in, pointed arched and chamfered triumphal arch connects the nave with the choir. A ribbed star vault rises on consoles in the choir.The high altar, created in the late 17th century, with a two-story columned aedicula, bears a statue of St. Rupert from the last third of the 15th century. The two side altars were built at the beginning of the 18th century. The middle figure of the left altar represents the evangelist Luke. On the right side altar there is a folk carving of Job and his wife; the upper picture shows the Holy Trinity.
