In the 14th century the Borromeo family, powerful feudal lords of the current Milanese area and originally from San Miniato in Tuscany, became owners of the islands that still bear their name today. They are different and of various extensions: the largest are Isola Bella and Isola Madre and from this point in the locality of Roncaro they can be seen in all their beauty.
