This is a great hut that is situated high in the volcanic lava field on the side of a mountain. After a long day in the saddle this place appears from across a kilometre long lava field. Getting to it is another thing!

Another well equipped hut with plenty of water, beds and a gas stove for cooking. There're also comfy slippers/boots to wear inside that belong the people that own the huts.

Hey @Carlo Ciampi thanks for your message - I stayed without booking. There were two other guys inside and they welcomed me inside to stay with open arms. there're is a lot of bed space. Have a MEGA time out there I'm well jealous! (I'm not sure if there's a booking website in place to book your stay) maybe email to guys at this website - vatnajokulsthjodgardur.is

I am planning to do the east to west Iceland crossing by bicycle this year and was thinking to stop at the Kistufell Mountain hut but cannot find any website or email address mentioned on Internet. May I ask you if you had to book it in advance and if so, how you did it ? Thanks a lot in advance ! Carlo
