The story about it:
The memorial stone is directly on the federal highway 54 approx. 3 km away from Ascheberg-Herbern in the direction of Werne. The restaurant opposite (SORRY, NO LONGER SERVED OR: OPEN - AS OF 12/16/20) is called “To the Last Wolf”. The location corresponds almost exactly to the place where the last wolf was shot in Westphalia on January 19, 1835. On January 19, 1935, the memorial stone was set on the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of that day.
It bears the following inscription:
