In 1834, Thalens confectioner Christian Jung built a wooden hut with a fireplace at the place on the Bode, which was already called Hirschgrund at the time. In 1856, Jung built a larger building directly on the Bode bridge and called it "Hirschgrund".

When the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm IV stopped here on May 5, 1834, the expanded inn was named "Hotel Königsruhe" in his honor in 1875.

Since August 1994, the property has been owned by the Bauer family and since 1995 has been called Königsruhe again, which had been changed to Hirschgrund for political reasons during the GDR era.
