    The Kruth-Wildenstein Dam is a departmental property. Built from 1962 to 1964 to support the low flow of the still highly industrialized Thur, it also has a flood retention function in winter which was very useful during the last event of January 4-5, 2018, allowing more than 1 to be retained. 5 Mm3 and reduce the point flow of the Thur flood by 24 m3 / s (25%). It is a structure that is more essential than ever for the proper functioning of the last industries in the Thur valley (in particular the CRISTAL PPC chemical site on which 550 direct jobs and 1,500 indirect jobs depend) and for the protection of populations against floods from the Thur whose damage would be catastrophic without the presence of the dam.
