Founded in 1956 as one of the settlements established by the National Institute of Colonization to take advantage of aquifer 23 and promote agriculture in La Mancha.
It was originally part of Manzanares and became independent in 1999. The name “del Caudillo” refers to Francisco Franco, which has generated debate about changing it under the Historical Memory Law.
