    Hiking

Trailhead about midway between Will Rodgers State Park in the East and Point Mugu State Park in the west. The most western section travels up to the summit of Sandstone Peak (3,111') the highest point in the Santa Monica Mountains. The Backbone Trail runs up and down the ridgeline of the Santa Monica Mountains some 68 miles. This is a good stop to meet up with resupply friends/trail angels, or as a starting point.
