Although the pinsapar path is full of photographable corners, the route leaves us with this beautiful view outside the forest. The geodesic vertex is located at 1250 meters high and from there you can get an incredible view of several peaks belonging to the Sierra de Grazalema natural park.

The Pinsapar in the Sierra del Pinar is the largest contiguous porcupine forest in the world. The hedgehog fir (also Pinsapo or Spanish fir) is a typical bushy fir, as one would expect in Scandinavia. It is left over from the Ice Age and has adapted to the Mediterranean climate. This rare tree species is only found in southern Spain and parts of Morocco.

A protected hiking trail leads through the Pinsapar, the Sendero "Él Pinsapar", which is only accessible with prior written permission (see highlight "Centro de Visitantes" in Él Bosque).

The trail has a total of 10.5 km (trail time ~4:30h) starting at the parking lot on CA-9104 and going all the way to Benamahoma. I couldn't find out how to get back to the car reliably, despite intensive research.

According to locals, the path widens towards the end and is not as beautiful when the forest ends. Their recommendation: turn around and go back.

Undoubtedly a completely alpine landscape in the interior of the province of Cádiz
