As in the Middle Ages. The church as the center point and around it the small houses and stables as well as the wall and moat. This is also where the annual Christmas market takes place, which is small but worth seeing and is set up both outdoors and in the small houses.

Insider tip, typical Medieval town center. One likes to drive past without discovering the medieval core and the fortified church. Had a concert in the church during the Christmas market. One of the most beautiful Christmas markets I know. It's worth a visit. A detour from Maulbronn too.

The Knittlinger Straße is the historical connecting road from Lienzingen in the direction of Schmie and Maulbronn, it forms part of the main road running through the village, formerly also known as the main road as a whole. Its course has been preserved to this day and is characterized by a dense row of well-preserved and historically correctly restored farmsteads. It is predominantly of gable-independent, two-storey buildings of the 16./17. Century. Due to the high density of historical buildings, this street today gives an authentic picture of the historical structure of the town and was thus able to retain its original character.

The Etterdorf, the center of the village at the mouth of the village streams, consists of an almost completely closed barn ring, many well-preserved half-timbered houses and the imposing fortified church. The allotment gardens and the path around the entire town center also belong to the overall ensemble of Etterdorf. The Kirchengaden and the beautiful half-timbered houses were and are part of several renovation measures. (Wikipedia)
