Castle Marsbach - once a robber baron castle

"Marsbach was in former times a terror for merchant and ship escort" that is a saying. He refers especially to the time when Otmar Oberhaimer was in possession of the castle at the end of the 15th century. He was later executed for his acts of violence and looting.

But not always it was so combative here. Marsbach is one of the first recorded places. Already 1075 "Morspah" appeared in the files. For over 500 years, a castle that was not very large but extremely difficult to attack stood up here. It was demolished in the middle of the 16th century and the much larger Renaissance castle was built. Marsbach became the judicial and administrative center of the region and remained so until 1848.

Today the castle is privately owned by Mr. Georg Stradiot.
