Two "owl trees" stand in the middle of the Kaufunger Forest. One of the old trees has a circumference of 4.80 meters. The thicker owl tree, with a trunk circumference of 6.59 meters, is one of the thickest sessile oaks in Germany. The huge trunk has numerous openings, which is probably where the name "owl tree" comes from. You can look through the hollow trunk from various directions. Definitely impressive and worth seeing.
