Best Hikes to Sandstone Gorge (formerly Zigeunerloch)

Tips

  • Nice hike in connection with the Schnittlinger Loch

  • The Zigeunerloch is similar to the Schnittlinger Loch, but not that big. This "hole" was probably created by the Zigeunerbach that flows through this sandstone gorge. He has washed out the sandstone in the past few years and thus created this beautiful natural experience. In the past, especially during the Thirty Years' War, the Gypsy Hole served as a place of refuge for the population to protect themselves from the approaching enemies.
