Władysław Reymont worked in Lipce in the years 1889-1891 as a senior employee on the railway. At that time, he lived in a small house of a crossing guard, just outside the village near the railway station. It was here that the writer observed life in the countryside, which was later reflected in the novel "Chłopi".
