The Col du Portillon is an emblematic pass of the Pyrenees and the Tour de France. Perched on the border between France and Spain, it culminates at 1,293 meters above sea level.

The climb from Bagnères-de-Luchon is 10.2 kilometers long with an average of 6.5% including some passages at more than 14%. In the descent, on the Spanish side, is a stele in homage to all the Spanish winners of the Tour de France.

  • You may be familiar with the Col du Portillon from the Tour de France. Again and again the stages led over this beautiful pass. Today, the Port de Balés is preferred, which has also been fully paved for some time. The pass is definitely not as exciting as others but nice. And upstairs there's also a zoo to look at if you need some variety and a break.

  • Beautiful climb, its two slopes are very different, the Spanish 7 km and the French 9 km much harder

  • Great col! Harder french side. In summer and weekends there are more traffic. In autumn the colors of forest are spectacular

  • Very nice climb. On a hot day it's right in the sun so that's something to keep in mind. Fairly even.

  • A nice pass starting from Luchon with beautiful percentages especially after the waterfall and just before switching to Spain.

  • Short but intense port. The younger brother of many ports in the Pyrenees. On the part of the Valley of Aran has some charm the different informative posters

  • A very beautiful mountain with a lot of information on the route about the Spanish winners of the Tour de France. "The Eagle of Toledo" :-)

  • Climbing the Col de Portillon from France is longer and more difficult (up to 13%) than from Spain. Road surface quality good. Lots of car traffic.
