    The Passo delle Radici (also known as the mouth of the Radici or Passo di San Pellegrino in Alpe - 1,527 m asl) is a pass of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines that separates Tuscany to the south from Emilia to the north and in particular the province of Lucca ( municipality of Castiglione di Garfagnana), from the province of Modena (municipality of Frassinoro): the Dragone stream springs from it on the Emilian side.

    A feature of the pass are the multiple access routes. In fact, in addition to the aforementioned ex-state road 324 that crosses it, it can also be reached through other routes:

    • On the Tuscan side, starting from the bottom of the valley, you can follow the provincial road 71 which passes through San Pellegrino in Alpe and reaches the Passo delle Radici with a distance of 17 km (compared to the 31 km of the route along state road 324). This route follows a very panoramic secondary ridge which in the stretch that leads to San Pellegrino has slopes of up to 20% and then continues less steep up to the Pradaccio pass at 1600 meters, from here the road descends until it meets the state road 324 immediately after the Pass of the Roots.
    • On the Emilian side there are at least four routes that rise from the valley:
    • from Modena along the state road 486 which climbs through Sassuolo, Lugo, Montefiorino and then reaches state road 324 in the Emilia region (locality Imbrancamento) less than 3 km from the Passo delle Radici;
    • from Modena along state road 12 to Pavullo nel Frignano, Pievepelago and from here along state road 324;
    • from Montefiorino following the provincial road 32 to Frassinoro, which connects to the state road 486 in the locality of La Raggia, and then from here following the state road 486 until it joins the state road 324;
    • from Reggio Emilia along state road 63 and then provincial road 9 to Villa Minozzo which reaches state road 486 in Piandelagotti.
